OVERT HANKINS

LEBANON - Overt Hankins, 69, Lebanon, a former employee of Whitham Hospital here, died Wednesday in the hospital where he had been a patient for one day. He also had been employed at Hicks Body Co. and Alton Box Co. He was a member of the Christian Church at Thorntown. Born June 17, 1907, in Tennessee, he was the son of Lee and Delia Hankins. The family moved to the Young's Chapel area of Montgomery County when Mr. Hankins was 12 years old. He resided at Thorntown from 1944 to 1974 when he moved to the residence south of here. He was married March 20, 1943, in Boone County to Marie Giles. She survives. Other survivors are a son, Joe of Lebanon; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Sheets of Lebanon and Mrs. Richard Smith of Thorntown; two brothers, Lester of Thorntown and Edward of Lebanon; a half-brother, Virgil Lanpher of Thorntown; a sister, Mrs. Herron (Lily) Davis of Clarks Hill; and seven grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Russell & Hitch Funeral Home here with the Rev. Ray Duss officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. - jlr
